What is Career Counseling?
Career counseling is the process of using the assessment data, along with information regarding your current career development issues, and then working collaboratively to focus on next steps to achieve your career oriented goals.
the testing process includes using assessments such as:
- The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to assess personality type;
- The Strong Interest and Skills Confidence Profile;
A values assessment
Careers are very connected to feeling fulfilled, creating meaning, and overall happiness in life.
Careers ideally should be consistent with your interests, values, skills, and personality.
Sometimes having a grasp on these components of self can be confusing.
Knowledge of these aspects of oneself helps to figure out what to do in terms of a career.
To evaluate these distinct domains we do this through assessments.
Work one-on-one with a career counselor to identify what career success means to you.
Career counseling can benefit people of all ages:
- high school students approaching the next stage in their education
- adults returning to the workforce after an absence
- seeking to change careers mid-life
- planning a post retirement second career
The process typically includes 5 sessions with a career counselor. The client will be asked to complete a computer-based assessment(s) prior to these sessions.
A final report will be given at the completion of the program.
